How to find high quality hoodies at bargain prices

We know how important it is to find high quality hoodies, but we also know that you do not want to break the bank. Hoodies can come at just about any price point, from $5 to $500. There are a lot of different ways to score great clothes at even better prices. Use our tips to find hoodies that do not compromise on quality but are affordable for just about any budget.

1.   Know what you are looking for

We think that the most important tip we can give you is to know what you are looking for. There are a lot of different hoodie styles and manufacturers out there, so if you have an idea in your head of what you want, you are less likely to overpay on something that you do not actually want. Think of things like fabric, style (zip up, pullover, cropped), whether you want a print or solid, what your max budget is, and where you are wanting to wear it. Once you have these things figured out you are ready to start searching.

2. Look for sales

While this might seem self explanatory, sales are a great way to find high quality garments at bargain prices. Even major fashion brands like Allsaints have sales. Depending on the time of the year and the sale, you can get high end hoodies for low budget prices. We have seen sales up to 75% off at different retailers, but you have to always have your eyes open to see when a sale pops up. Make a mental note of popular sale times throughout the year. Black Friday always has great sales on hoodies. There are normally back to school sales, winter closeout sales in the spring, and other holiday related sales. Never buy something at full price because it will likely go on sale in the near future.

 3. Purchase hoodies in the summer

Thinking ahead is crucial to finding the best deals on hoodies. Most people do not want to buy hoodies during the summer months because it is too hot to wear them. However, brands still have them up on their websites even if you can’t find them in the stores. As soon as it starts getting cold, availability increases, but so do prices. If you think ahead and buy a hoodie in the offseason, you can get a high quality hoodie for dirt cheap.

 4. Go thrifting

Not only is thrifting great for the environment, but you can also score some really great vintage pieces at bargain prices. Most thrift stores we have been to will have hoodies year round, and sometimes you can even find a designer piece. If you’re in a larger city like New York or Paris, there are thrift stores just about every other block. If you’re on the hunt for a knitted hoodie, definitely check out a vintage store. Even if you aren’t, thrifting is a fun way to spend an afternoon, and you might be surprised what you can find.

 5.  Make it yourself

This tip might not be for everyone, but if you know how to sew or are crafty, you could always make a hoodie yourself. Upcycle a piece you found thrifting or that's been laying in the back of your closet for far too long. Upcycling clothing is also fantastic for the environment and helps eliminate waste. Even if you do not know how to sew, you can always crop a hoodie yourself to make it better fit your style or size. If you do know how to sew, even better. Take spare fabric and recreate it into something you love, and you know the quality is great because you made it with your own two hands.

 6. Rent your clothes

Try out a subscription service like Rent the Runway or Stitch Fix. By renting or using a subscription service to try on clothes before purchasing, you will save money and get to try things you might not normally try. Rent the Runway offers designer rentals at low prices, which is great if you are on a budget but have a designer style. Stitch Fix is a subscription service that sends you clothes that match your style, and you only pay for what you want to purchase and send the rest back. Both of these options are very innovative and will help you find the right pieces that you are looking for on a low budget.

 7.  Know where to look

It might not be easy to find high quality clothes at bargain prices at department stores, but it is much easier to find them on places like Facebook Marketplace, Ebay, or Poshmark. Buying second hand clothing is also fantastic for the environment by eliminating waste, but it allows you to find great deals and expensive pieces. We have seen all sorts of designers on these websites and the hoodies typically look brand new. If you want a cashmere hoodie but only have a polyester budget, start looking for gently used pieces online. Most websites also offer buyer and seller protections, so you do not have to be as wary of scams.

 8. Quality over price

It is important to recognize that a higher price does not always mean higher quality. Oftentimes, you are paying for a brand, NOT paying for better quality clothing. If you let go of branding and focus more on quality, you will likely find great pieces at lower price points. What matters most is the fit and the fabric. If these two things match what you are looking for, then the brand does not matter nearly as much.

9. Be flexible

You might not find exactly what you are looking for straight away, and that is okay. Be flexible and try out all sorts of brands and styles until you find what you are looking for. If you are too stubborn, you might overpay or might settle for something that you don’t really like. We can never find what we are looking for when we only have one thing in mind, but always find something we love when we are open to more possibilities.

10. Recognize that you are making an investment

We think clothing is an investment and should be treated as such. If you buy something that is high quality that you love, you will likely never get rid of it. It makes much more financial sense to invest in a quality garment than to buy something that might be slightly cheaper that will fall apart in the span of a year. When you make an investment in a high quality hoodie, you might spend a little more, but you will net less when you think of how many times you will wear it in your lifetime.

At the end of the day…

You do not need to break the bank to find a high quality hoodie. Whether you make it yourself, find it at the thrift store, or score a massive Black Friday sale, you should be able to find a great value on your next purchase. We hope this guide to finding quality hoodies at bargain prices has been helpful.
